Competence = Human & Technical Resources • All staff are trained in ESD hazards and procedures What is this? Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) The dissipation of electricity. (In layman's terms, a "shock") ESD can easily destroy semiconductor products (found in hard disk drives), even when the discharge is too small to be felt. • Class 100 clean room What is this? It is the room in which work is carried out on your drive. The ‘clean air’ in this room eliminates the risk of particles damaging your drive and reducing the chances of recovering your data. It only takes a quick monitor of the air in a cleanroom compared to a typical office building to see the difference. Typical office building air contains from 500,000 to 1,000,000 particles (0.5 microns or larger) per cubic foot of air. A Class 100 cleanroom is designed to never allow more than 100 particles (0.5 microns or larger) per cubic foot of air. • Industrial Ionizing Air Blowers What are these? Static control air ionizing blowers, for ESD control, dust removal and general static elimination. • Climatic control of laboratory environment for device protection |
